Margaret Sena Akpo presents at Gordon Research Conference
Margaret Sena Akpo recently participated in the Gordon Research Conference on Visual System Development, an international meeting bringing together leading researchers at the vanguard of visual neuroscience and developmental biology.

Sena's participation provided an opportunity to present her research on how cell adhesion molecules regulate Müller glia morphology and tiling, processes essential for maintaining retinal architecture and function. By defining how disruptions in these mechanisms alter glial organization, her work aims to advance understanding of retinal disease and identify potential avenues for therapeutic intervention.
Sena’s participation was made possible through generous support from the International Brain Research Organization (IBRO), the office of Biomedical Graduate Programs Wayne State University School of Medicine, the Wayne State University Graduate School, and the Department of Pharmacology Trainee Travel Awards.
Sena is grateful for the investment in her scientific training and professional development, which enabled her to engage with the community of experts in visual system development, expand her scientific network and gain valuable perspectives that will inform her research and future contributions to the field.
She is especially grateful to her advisor, Dr. Andrew M. Garrett, for his continued support and guidance.
