Biography

Nazmul joined the Garrett lab on November 29, 2022 and his research works are related to neuroscience. He uses mouse retina model to examine starburst amacrine cells (SACs) to understand cell adhesion molecules (CAMs) and their mechanisms that promote neuronal self-avoidance and survival in neural circuit formation. Before joining WSU, Nazmul was in Japan for five years. There he completed his PhD (2017 – 2021) from the Hamamatsu University School of Medicine along with a one-year postdoctoral experience in the Virology department. Nazmul switched to the research field with a long ten years clinical experience in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismology in Bangladesh with a passion to improve himself in translational ophthalmology research.
