Dr. Kassotis Receives EPA Award!

Congratulations to Dr. Christopher Kassotis for earning an EPA award. Details for the award can be found below:

  • Project period: 9/1/22 - 8/31/25
  • Total cost: $600,000
  • Title: Assessment of Underlying Molecular Mechanisms Promoting Adipogenic Outcomes in Complex Mixtures

Synopsis: This award will assess effects of mixtures of increasing complexity on metabolic health outcomes in an effort to better understand joint effects of complex chemical mixtures. We will interrogate available toxicological mixture models using both cell and zebrafish and laboratory mixtures of increasing complexity to examine where available mixture models succeed and/or fail in predicting observed experimental effects on fat cell development and increased adiposity. We will also attempt to improve predictive models through generation of a statistical model to evaluate the environmental mixture effects through summed contributory biological activities.
